The Place or Idol in Which You Place the Most Time is Who or What You are Following!
Scripture: Matthew 6:33 and 11 Timothy 1:7
The Bible says that in Proverbs 8:17: “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”
We meet on Jeremiah 29:11 Prayerline five days a week from five to six o’clock in the morning to stand in agreement with others as we praise and glorify God, ask for forgiveness, give thanks for our many blessings, and pray on behalf of others. We fellowship with God to allow Him to speak to us. II Timothy 1:7 gives us the assurance that, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” John, in Chapter 3, presents a story about a Jewish religious leader, a master of Israel whose name was Nicodemus. This master of Israel came to Jesus by night as you can read in John 3:1-5. But we see here that this master of Israel, one who is supposed to be knowledgeable about the law and customs, came to Jesus by night because he had questions; [he wanted to know some things] to get more information; get clarification. He just wanted to know more about Jesus. Some things just didn’t make sense to him; he didn’t understand, including Jesus’ ability to do the miracles he had witnessed.
Why did Nicodemus came to Jesus BY NIGHT? He came seeking understanding/truth. Well, he came to the right person. He referred to Jesus first of all as TEACHER; not only that but a TEACHER SENT FROM GOD. Nicodemus said in John 3:2, “for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.” Maybe he wanted to know why Jesus was able to give sight to the blind, get the lame to walk, and feed the multitudes, for he had never seen or heard anyone else do the things Jesus had done. So, Nicodemus, even at the risk of being caught, ventured out to talk to Jesus and learn more about Him; what made Him different.
Jesus gave him what he was seeking! Truth! He told him that in John 3:3, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” And in John 3:4, “Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
My question to you is, “Where are you spending most of your time? Who are you following?" If you say Jesus, then the next question is, "How BADLY do you want Him? What are you willing to give up in your pursuit of Him? What are you willing to RISK in order to get to know Him better?"
The Bible in Matthew 6:33 says: “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Seek means to pursue, search for, hunt, inquire, persist. This includes investigation, meditating on God’s Word and then following His commandments. In Exodus 15:26, God made it clear to the Israelites that, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases which I have brought on the Egyptians. Because Pharaoh refused to obey the voice of the Lord to let His people go to the desert to worship Him, God put upon the Egyptians a series of diseases and abominations such as the plague of frogs, lice, flies, boils, hail, locusts, darkness; the death of Egyptian; cattle; and finally, the death of their first born."
On the other hand, as is shown in Deuteronomy 28:1 and 2, there is the blessing of obedience: He tells the Israelites: “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings (verses 3-14) shall come upon you and overtake you because you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Some of these blessings include being set on high above all nations of the earth; blessed be the fruit of their body, ground; their enemies shall fear them, and God shall establish them a holy people unto Himself."
In the New Testament, Romans 8:1-4, we are admonished and reminded to worship God, in Spirit and in truth. "For there is no condemnation to those who follow Christ, no longer walking after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” The Old Testament law was not able to overcome sin on a permanent basis; that’s why the people had to constantly make blood animal sacrifices on the altar. But the Blood of Jesus is able to free us from the penalty of sin and death permanently. Jesus’ flesh and blood forever broke and freed us from that bondage of sin and death. He alone could pay the price of our sin because of His sinless body and blood.
Jesus tells us in John 10:10: “The thief cometh not, but kill, and to destroy.” Watch out for how and where you use your time.
Do not allow the devil to steal the time you can devote to seeking after the Word of God, establishing your relationship with Him, and growing in the Word of God.
The following will help you determine where you are in pursuit of Jesus and the Word of God:
Your whole world will drastically change.
God showed me that the place, in which, I spend my time determines what I am following. So you, too, must make that determination. If you find that you need to make some changes, do so now. It’s Never Too Late With Jehovah!
