Why is Jeremiah 29:11 Devoted to Prayer?
GOD IS LOVE
- The essence of God is love. Why? God demonstrates to us an agape love (1 Corinthians 13) throughout the Bible. His love is unwavering and unconditional (John 3:16). God loves you despite your sin (Luke 15), situation or circumstance.
- Psalm 144:2 HCS - He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliver. He is my shield, and I take refuge in Him; He subdues my people under me.
- Zephaniah 3:17 ESV - The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
- 1 John 4:7-8 AMP - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (spring) from God; and he who loves (his fellowmen) is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]. He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love.
GOD'S DEVOTION TO PRAYER
- Jesus prayed early in the morning to enter into an intimate communion with God and to prepare for his daily earthly assignments. Jesus' life was centered around prayer. As stated in Mark 6:45-47 (NIV), "immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray. Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land." It is important to mention that the busier Jesus' ministry got the more he prayed to God. Through prayer, we invite the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, which revives us and provides us with the power of God to overcome all adversity and prepare us for the day.
- Mark 1:35 NIV - Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
- Luke 6:12 AMP - Now in those days it occurred that He went up into a mountain to pray, and spent the whole night in prayer to God.
- Luke 18:1 AMP - Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).
- Philippians 4:6 KJV - Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV - Pray without ceasing.
- Psalm 4:1 ASV - Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness; Thou has set me at large when I was in distress: Have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
GOD IS Jehovah Rapha
- God is referenced throughout the Bible with a multitude of names that speak about his character and power. One of God's names is Jehovah Rapha "The Lord God is our Healer," which emphasizes that God is the great physician. God's word has the power to heal any infirmity that comes to steal, kill and destroy you from God's promises and destiny for your life. Decree and declare that Jehovah Rapha heals you!
- Exodus 15:26 AMP - Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statues, I will put none of the diseases upon you which i brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.
- Psalm 103:3 NIV - The Lord forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
- Psalm 118-17 - I shall not die but live, and shall declare the works and recount the illustrious act of the Lord.
- Jeremiah 30:17 NIV - The Lord has declared that He will restore me to health and heal my wounds.
- Proverbs 4:20-22 NIV - I will listen closely to God's words. I will not let them out of my sight - I will keep them within my heart; for they are life to all who find them and health for the whole body.
- Jeremiah 17:14 AMP - Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise.
GIVE THANKS TO GOD
- Heavenly Father, I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your divine providence that continues giving me what I need everyday of my life despite that fact that I don't fulfill all your desires. I praise you Heavenly Father that throughout history you have been benevolent to all of us; from creation to the fall of humankind in paradise, from exodus and through the coming of your son Jesus Christ you have shown us a loving and giving beautiful heart. Your countless mercy is witnessed from the fall of Adam and Eve until today and we will continue to see it until the end of times through your son Jesus Christ, Savior and Messiah.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV - Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

- Psalm 92:1 ESV - A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath. It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High.
- Psalm 136:1-26 ESV - Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever...
GOD IS FORGIVENESS
- God forgives all who repent of their sins. God paid the ultimate price for our transgressions by dying on the cross. God's last words were "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34 NLT). As stated in 1John 1:19, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (KJV)". God forgives and forgets when we have a repenting heart and there is no condemnation.
- Romans 3:23-26 ESV - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
- Acts 2:38 ESV - And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
- Isaiah 43:25 ESV - I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
- 1 John 1:8-10 ESV - If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
GOD IS PEACE
- Craig von Buseck in his article, Learning to be Led by God's Peace, writes "Without great trials, we would have no great victories. The Lord reveals Himself in the difficulties of life as our Deliverer, our Sufficiency, and our Lord...If you are really serious about walking with God, He will teach you, and guide you, and comfort you, and, yes, you will know his peace in your life. In fact, as you mature in your walk with the Lord, peace and joy will be multiplied to you. It is an interesting paradox that our heavenly Father orchestrates in our lives. On the other hand, our trials increase as we grow stronger in the Lord. On the other hand, the fruit of the Spirit - including peace and joy - develop to the point that we are given grace to weather the trails, and rest of our lives are filled with harmonious fellowship with God."
- 2 Thessalonians 3:16 ESV - Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
- Isaiah 26:3 ESV - You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
- Romans 12:18 ESV - If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
- Romans 15:13 ESV - May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
